Arcipel's Research Associate Nima Gerami recently attended the UK Deterrence Alliance Conference.

At the event, Nima outlined the progress thus far in Arcipel's Ministry of Defence-funded project examining the UK's nuclear deterrent.

With one tabletop exercise completed, another is currently being designed, with a view to publishing findings in a final report in late summer.

Congratulations to Nima for an excellent presentation and work on the project thus far.

Arcipel’s Research Associate Nima Gerami recently published “Twice Bombed, Still Nuclear: The Limits of Force Against Iran’s Atomic Program” for War on the Rocks, offering a sharp, timely assessment of why repeated strikes have failed to halt Iran’s nuclear trajectory and what this means for policymakers navigating the next phase of regional escalation.

This publication reflects Nima’s continued leadership in analysing nuclear strategy, coercive signalling, and the durability of Iran’s security institutions.

Arcipel is always seeking to develop next-generational talent.

That's why we're delighted that Yasmin Bumma-Dykes will be joining us as part of our annual internship programme.

Yasmin is currently completing her Master’s degree at King’s College London, where she also earned her undergraduate degree in International Relations. She has studied Human Security at Sciences Po Paris and participated in field-based learning opportunities in peacebuilding and negotiations in Kosovo. Alongside her studies, Yasmin brings hands-on experience from the non-profit and fintech sectors.

Yasmin has a broad and evolving interest in geopolitical and security risks, with a particular focus on OSINT, conflict monitoring, and the visual communication of complex data. With Arcipel, Yasmin will be contributing to OSINT-driven research and the development of informative analytical products.

We are delighted to be welcoming back Nicole Dimitrova to Arcipel.

Nicole graduated from our internship programme in summer this year and has just returned as a research analyst, where she will examine Middle Eastern and Eurasian defence, security and geopolitical issues and assist in delivering war-games to clients.

Nicole is a graduate of King’s College London and the University of Oxford, with specific expertise on Iraq, Syria, and Russia. Nicole is skilled in OSINT methodologies and risk analysis, and has conducted a range of investigations on militia activity, delivered intelligence briefs on political dynamics in the Middle East and participated in projects examining equipment, personnel, and Russian hybrid warfare strategy.

Arcipel is growing!

This week, we welcome Nima Gerami as our new research associate for nuclear security and defence strategy. Nima will be leading on all WMD-related projects and helping to design and execute war-games for key clients.

A former U.S. civil servant, Nima brings nearly two decades of experience working across government and academia. Prior to joining Arcipel, he served on the faculty of the U.S. National Defense University, managing a portfolio spanning nuclear policy, deterrence, risk reduction, and Middle East security. Previously, as a foreign affairs officer at the Department of State, he advised senior officials and coordinated high-priority initiatives on WMD issues. Nima has held fellowships at the University of Oxford and leading think tanks in Washington, DC, and is completing a PhD in War Studies at King’s College London.
